The D-Rex Dinosaur is one of the coolest toys I’ve seen hit the market. It’s by Mattel Entertainment and what’s really neat about it is that it responds to voice commands as well as motion. I bought one for my son and he absolutely loved it. He’s the type that likes to figure things out and he had no trouble getting the hang of how the D-Rex interactive toy works. He’s got a lot of nice toys, but by far this is the coolest. He likes watching Dinosaur documentaries on Discovery Channel, so you can imagine how excited he was to get his hands on a dinosaur –well, sort of dinosaur.

This mean D-Rex interactive toy has a nice side though; it responds to touches and pats on the back of its head. With the “bone controller” you can change the mood of the dinosaur. You can set it to either aggressive, peaceful, playful, or guard mode. Guard mode is pretty cool (How many times have I used that word?). The robo dinosaur will monitor a room from where you put him and start roaring when conditions are changed from either sound or movement.
It’s even great when you want to play a prank on someone. My son put in guard mode in the bathroom one night. So you can imagine how a barely-awake mom would respond when she zombie-walks to the bathroom and gets met with prehistoric roars at maximum volume.
The toy has received lots of praise from the Toy Fair that’s held in New York. It’s received positive reviews in terms of innovation and interactive play. It’s received a lot of positive critique and is a big hit in the toy community. Jake loves it and has had it for a few months now. The number of things you can do with the D-Rex is almost infinite. It’s fun, interactive, doesn’t poop, and yes, it’s cool. Pretty Cool.
